Put your Fool's hat on with Novomatic's Magic Jester
Novomatic released their Magic Jester pokie, in what looks like a combination of the most classic features of pokie machines and a medieval-like jester party. We have to say that we were not very impressed nor pleased with this video-pokie, so you shouldn't be expectant of appealing graphics nor amusing gameplays.
We were surprised to find such a mediocre pokie developed by the one and only Novomatic. This online software developing company has stayed in the industry for over 30 years and they have provided us with multiple gaming solutions.
Magic Jester is set on a 5-reel, 3-row grid, and it features 20 paylines. As it is the case with many Novomatic pokies, there is a sober purple hue at the basis of the overall palette of the pokie.
The instructions are as simple as they can possibly get: you need to spin the reels and get at least three symbols of a kind placed in one of the 20 paylines available in order to redeem your coin wins.
The symbols featured on this game are mostly classic pokie icons such as bells, sevens, cherries, A, J, Q and 10. Each one of these symbols has a Fools hat on top of them in order to fit a little bit further into the jester narrative.
There is one Wild symbol in this pokie represented by a Jester, and the only other special feature offered in the game is called Magic Reels. It basically consists in a random reel being highlighted by magic, while the high paying symbols like the jester Wild, the seven and the bell, are turned into double and triple symbols.
We found the variance of this game to be medium, so you shouldn't be expecting easy and frequent wins.
What we loved
It was a decent detail from the game developers at Novomatic to put some jester hats on top of the icons and symbols. It gives the overall layout a nice touch among dull, unimpressive design.

What we did not like
Like you have probably noticed by now, there is not much going on in the Magic Jester pokie. The dynamic is so simple that it tends to get boring, and compared to most video-pokie machines out there, this one is more than just a little disappointment.
Visually, it looks outdated and cheap. The soundtrack is repetitive and it does get annoying after a couple spins, and the overall chance of winning some coins is insufficient to compensate for this misses.
Worth playing?
There are a lot of bad, dull pokies out there, and Novomatic's Magic Jester is definitely one of them. With a simple dynamic featuring one very mysterious and random special feature that offers no big wins, there is nothing particularly appealing or inviting in this game.
We are being completely honest when we say this is a bad game. We do not recommend you to waste your time –and money- with Magic Jester.
